An SUV crossed several lanes before colliding with another vehicle on Route 8 south of Butler Thursday afternoon. No one was seriously injured. Police are investigating.

PENN TWP — An SUV crossed several lanes before colliding with another vehicle on Route 8 Thursday afternoon.

Sgt. Cheryl Cranmer of township police said the northbound GMC Jimmy crossed into the right southbound lane, colliding head-on with a Jeep 4x4.

The accident was reported in a 1:14 p.m. 911 call.

Neither driver’s name was available.

The driver of the Jeep had to be extricated by the Penn Township Volunteer Fire Department.

No serious injuries were reported. Both drivers were taken by Butler Ambulance to Butler Memorial Hospital for treatment.

Cranmer said more vehicles could have been involved.

“I don’t know how he didn’t hit more,” she said.

Southbound traffic was temporarily diverted into the inner northbound lane. Crews cleared the scene at 4:50 p.m.

Police are investigating.
