SAXONBURG — The borough is seeking new members for the Saxonburg Historical & Restoration Commission, which lost nearly half of its membership earlier this month.

Four out of nine members submitted resignation letters that were accepted by borough council March 1.

Mayor Bill Gillespie said Gerry Mullen cited health reasons for his departure, but the three other members — borough Councilman John Stanek, Maria McCullough and Michele Corll — did not state why they were leaving.

Stanek, McCullough and Corll could not be reached for comment.

The SHRC oversees Roebling Park, Saxonburg Museum and Cooper Hall as well as sponsors the annual Saxonburg Festival of the Arts.

Gillespie said the commission would have a full complement again.

“The commission will reorganize,” he said.

The borough also is accepting applications for one of Saxonburg’s three seats on the South Butler Community Library board.
