Bernard C. Beblo

Bernard C. Beblo, 90, of Butler passed away Saturday evening at Chicora Medical Center.

He was born Oct. 20, 1926, in Butler, a son of the late John and Nora Szul Beblo.

Bernie spent his entire working career selling men's clothing and furnishings in Butler. He was employed at the Hub from 1947 until it closed. He then went to work at the Clothing Wear-House until he became a partner in Gents. He later became the sole proprietor of Gents, operating the store until his retirement in 1993. After retiring, he worked part-time for several years at the Bon Ton department store.

Bernie was a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Army.

He was a member of Saint Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church and the 55 and Alive of Saint Michael's.

Bernie enjoyed playing boccie, golf, bowling and bingo. He also liked to go to the casino.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Cecelia M. Angeloni Beblo, who he married April 20, 1950; one son, Michael F. Beblo and his wife, Melissa, of Delmont; two daughters, Cheryl Beblo Cassis of St. Clairsville, Ohio, and Linda Beblo of Exton, Pa.; five granddaughters, Jennifer, Alexis, Kaitlyn, Rachel and Alayna; one great-grandson, Eddie; two sisters, Victoria Beblo and Bertha Beblo, both of Butler; and one brother, Leo Beblo and his friend, Lorraine, of Butler.

Bernie was preceded in death by his parents; one son-in-law, Robert Cassis; five brothers; and seven sisters.

BEBLO — Friends of Bernard C. Beblo, who died Saturday, Feb. 11, 2017, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Martin Funeral Home, 429 Center Ave., Butler.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Saint Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, 432 Center Ave., Butler. Entombment will take place at Saint Michael's Mausoleum.

Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery by the V.F.W. Post 249, the American Legion Post 117 and the American Legion Post 778.

The Bereavement Group of St. Michael the Archangel Parish will meet at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home to conduct a scriptural wake service.

The family requests memorial donations be made to VA Butler Healthcare, 325 New Castle Road, Butler, PA 16001.
