Brother arrested after dispute
BRADY TWP — A sibling argument culminated when one brother allegedly charged the other with a knife at the Brady Hills Estates trailer park.
State police Tuesday arrested Roger A. Ristity, 58, but not before he moved toward troopers with the knife still in his possession, according to court documents.
Police said they had to eventually use force to place him in handcuffs at his trailer home. No injuries were reported.
Ristity was later arraigned on charges of terroristic threats, resisting arrest and harassment. He was placed in the Butler County Prison on $50,000 bail following arraignment.
Louis C. Ristity called police after the clash with his brother. He told troopers that the defendant “charged at him with a knife in a threatening manner,” according to a police affidavit.
Roger Ristity met troopers at the back door and began “yelling and screaming” at them, police said. He fled into the living room. The officers followed him there.
Believing the suspect still had the knife, troopers ordered him to show his hands, documents said, but Ristity refused.
Police allege that the defendant “then began to reach for the knife and move toward” the officers “while attempting to pull his knife out of his pocket.”
The altercation ended when police forcibly handcuffed the suspect.
Ristity’s preliminary hearing is set for Wednesday at the office of District Judge William O’Donnell in Slippery Rock.
