Bids opened for courthouse repairs; lowest is $237,500

The low bid for Butler County courthouse repairs is $237,500.

Uhl Construction of Allison Park submitted the lowest of six bids, which were opened at the county commissioners meeting Wednesday, to fix water damage to the basement floor and some walls of the courthouse.

The project includes rerouting rainwater from entering the building.

Even factoring in three alternate bids to make the sidewalks across the street on three sides handicap-accessible, Uhl has the lowest amount at $273,800.

The project was estimated to fall within $500,000.

The second lowest base bid is $267,338 from Troy Jaycon Inc. of Slippery Rock while the second lowest amount with all three alternates is $291,900 from R & B Contracting of West Mifflin.

Arcon Contract of Lower Burrell submitted the highest base bid at $395,000 and the highest total amount at $495,000.

The commissioners are set to award a contract next week.

The county also is seeking bids for the replacement of all the beige exterior panels to the government center on Diamond Street.

The aggregate panels on the exterior of the 1991 building are rusting.

That project is estimated to cost between $2.9 million and $4.5 million.
