Butler High School will present the all-school musical “Shrek” at 7:30 p.m. March 17 and 18 in the Butler Senior High auditorium, 120 Campus Lane.

Tickets are available for $10 at May's Music Shoppe, 247 E. Jefferson St., or at the door on performance nights for $12.

“Once upon a time, there was a little ogre named Shrek ...” And thus begins the tale of an unlikely hero who finds himself on a life-changing journey alongside a wisecracking Donkey and a feisty princess who resists her rescue.

Throw in a short-tempered bad guy, a cookie with an attitude and over a dozen other fairy tale misfits, and you've got the kind of mess that calls for a real hero. Luckily, there's one on hand ... and his name is Shrek.

Based on the Oscar-winning DreamWorks Animation film, “Shrek the Musical” is a Tony Award-winning fairy tale adventure, featuring all new songs and a sidesplitting script.

“Shrek” brings all the beloved characters you know from the film to life on stage and proves there's more to the story than meets the ears.

Dale VanLaningham is the director and Stephanie Marshall is the musical staging director.

Danielle Smith is the choreographer, Alicia Pabrinkis is the vocal director, and Shanna Kelly is the orchestra conductor.

Phil Hankey is the technical director and Robert Harrison and Will Eberle are the assistant technical directors.

Carol Albright, Audrey Eberle and Deb Moran are in charge of costumes.

Jennifer Mariacher is in charge of props, while Jennifer Mariacher and Audrey Eberle are in charge of makeup.

Joey Lowerre is the student stage manager.
