KARNS CITY — The Karns City High School Drama Club will present “Fiddler on the Roof” at 7:30 p.m. March 9, 10 and 11 in the high school auditorium.

Tickets are $9 if presold or $10 at the door. Tickets are available at the high school.

“Fiddler on the Roof” with music by Jerry Bock, lyrics by Sheldon Harnick, and book by Joseph Stein, is set in Imperial Russia in 1905.

The musical is based on “Tevye and his Daughters” (or “Tevye the Dairyman”) and other tales by Sholem Aleichem.

The story centers on Tevye, the father of five daughters, and his attempts to maintain his Jewish religious and cultural traditions as outside influences encroach upon the family's lives.

He must cope both with the strong-willed actions of his three older daughters, who wish to marry for love — each one's choice of a husband moves further away from the customs of his faith — and with the edict of the Czar that evicts the Jews from their village.

Beth Ackelson is the director, and Alison Cary is the musical director.

The conductor is Amanda Pivirotto, and the choreographer is Whitney Angeloni Ruediger.

The Drama Club assistants are Kim Patsy and Audra Gallaher.
