CHRIST COMMUNITY UNITED METHODIST

Holy Communion will be observed at Christ Community United Methodist Church, 205 N. Duffy Road, at both Sunday services.

The NOW Team meets at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

The Lenten Bible study is 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday and will continue until April 11 in the downstairs room 105/106. The regular Bible study will continue at 7 p.m. Wednesdays.

The March food cupboard item is cereal.

CHRIST OUTREACH

Christ Outreach Church, 120 Walker Ave., will celebrate Communion at the Sunday morning worship service.

COVENANT PRESBYTERIAN

Covenant Presbyterian Church, 230 E. Jefferson St. will celebrate the sacrament of the Lord’s Supper at the Sunday worship service.

The People for Peace study group meets at 11 a.m. March 9 in the assembly room.

EAST BUTLER PRESBYTERIAN

East Butler Presbyterian Church, Ninth and Randolph streets, East Butler, will host a bluegrass/gospel jam at 7 p.m. Sunday in the social hall. Guests can take an instrument to participate.

FIRST BAPTIST

The ladies’ Bible study of First Baptist Church, 221 W. New Castle St., is at 7 p.m. today at the Dittmer Home.

There will be an 8:30 a.m. prayer service and a 9:15 a.m. breakfast before Sunday school and the worship service Sunday.

FIRST BAPTIST OF EVANS CITY

The Women Concerned for Missions group of First Baptist Church of Evans City, 242 S. Washington St., Evans City, meets at the church at 7 p.m. today.

The youth group meets at 6:30 p.m. Friday at the church.

FIRST ENGLISH LUTHERAN

There will be a final vote for constitutional changes after each Sunday service at First English Lutheran Church, 241 N. Main St.

The Good Samaritan flower pot will be available at the back of the church for donations to help those in need.

Small group meetings with the Rev. Kimberly van Driel about following Jesus’ hard commands will be from 3 to 5 p.m. each Sunday in Lent.

The Butler Area Lutheran Ministries midweek Lenten service will have a soup supper at 6 p.m. and a worship service at 7 p.m. Wednesday at First English Lutheran Church.

GRACE @ CALVARY LUTHERAN

Grace @ Calvary Lutheran Church, 123 E. Diamond St., will have GLOW March, a monthly youth event for children ages 5 to 12, from 3 to 7 p.m. Saturday. Dinner will be provided.

The church will participate in the midweek Lenten supper at 6 p.m. and worship service at 7 p.m. Wednesday at First English Lutheran Church, 241 N. Main St.

GRACE CHURCH OF HARMONY

Grace Church of Harmony, 538 Main St., Harmony, will have its annual mission conference Saturday and Sunday. The event is free. The attending missionaries are supported by the church. For more information, call the church office at 724-452-7270.

GraceWay meets at the Center Township Elementary School on Mercer Road.

MaryAnn Mahan and Tabitha Snyder will provide music during the Sunday worship service.

HIGHLAND PRESBYTERIAN

Women’s Day will be observed by Highland Presbyterian Church, 310 Franklin St., Slippery Rock, at the worship service Sunday. The guest speaker is the Rev. Donna Yanosy of the Friendship Presbyterian Church. Becky Wells will provide music. Communion will be served, and a fellowship hour will follow the service.

The prayer group meets at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The women’s Bible study meets at 10 a.m. March 9.

MARS UNITED PRESBYTERIAN

Mars United Presbyterian Church, 232 Crowe Ave., Mars, will have a Lenten lunch at noon Friday with guest speaker Karl Kennedy.

The Rev. Edward Boyce will lead both services and serve Communion Sunday.

The youth groups meet with Justin Thomson at 5:30 and 7 p.m. Sunday.

The women’s Bible study meets at 1:30 p.m. Monday in the board room.

The buildings and grounds committee and Griefshare meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday.

The fiber arts group meets at 10 a.m. March 9 in the fellowship hall.

MT. CHESTNUT PRESBYTERIAN

Mt. Chestnut Presbyterian Church, 727 Old West 422, will include Holy Communion at the Sunday worship services.

The chili cook-off and judging is noon Sunday. Toppings and drinks will be provided.

NORTH MAIN STREET CHURCH OF GOD

SAINT ANDREWS UNITED PRESBYTERIAN

Saint Andrews United Presbyterian Church, 201 E. Jefferson St., will celebrate the Lord’s Supper during the worship service on the first Sunday of Lent.

A new education series led by the Rev. Jim Campbell, “Science and Theology Shake Hands,” will be at 9:15 a.m. Sunday in the church library.

The church will host other churches for a midweek worship service led by the Rev. Anthony Sciarappa and the Rev. Harry Bielewicz at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

The first Sunday mission offering in March will benefit the Butler County Relief Initiative.

ST. JOHN'S LUTHERAN

St. John’s Lutheran Church of Connoquenessing, 100 Main St., Connoquenessing, will celebrate the first Sunday in Lent with Holy Communion during the worship service.

There will be a Lenten offering for Connoquenessing Meals on Wheels.

The March cause of the month is the DAV wheelchair handicapped accessible van project.

ST. JOHN LUTHERAN

St. John Lutheran Church, 420 Beaver St., Mars, will have its traditional purple pancake breakfast between services Sunday.

The church will have a series of Lenten soup suppers and study Wednesday evenings during Lent. The first will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday. A devotional study will follow the meal.

ST. LUKE'S LUTHERAN

St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 310 W. Main St., Saxonburg, will share Holy Communion Sunday. Sunday school will celebrate Festival Sunday at 9:30 a.m. Also, the new Lenten series, “The Crucible: Choices We Make,” begins at 9:30 a.m. Sunday in the Hattie Cooper Room.

The outreach ministry and council will lead the 2 p.m. Sunday worship at Elmcroft Assisted Living, 100 Bella Court, Saxonburg.

St. Luke’s Stars meet for Bible study with the Rev. Roger Keller at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Abba’s House.

The PM sewing ministry for all ages meets at 6:30 p.m. March 9 in the fellowship hall.

ST. MARK'S EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN

St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 201 W. Jefferson St., celebrates Communion at all weekend worship services.

SS. PETER AND PAUL UKRAINIAN ORTHODOX

SS. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church, 21 Evergreen St., Lyndora, will have Great Canon-St. Andrew of Crete at 6 p.m. today.

There will be Pre-sanctified Liturgy at 6:30 p.m. Friday followed by a Lenten potluck meal.

Great Vespers is 5 p.m. Saturday.

There will be an Orthodoxy Divine Liturgy and procession of holy icons at 10 a.m. Sunday, followed by a social hour.

There will be a Pre-sanctified Liturgy at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at St. Anthony’s Orthodox Church, 400 S. Sixth Ave., followed by a Lenten potluck.

SUMMIT PRESBYTERIAN

Summit Presbyterian Church, 181 Caldwell Drive, will have worship service with Communion Sunday.

The youth group meets at 6 p.m. Sunday.

The praise team will not practice Wednesday, but the chancel choir practices at 7 p.m.

TRINITY LUTHERAN

Trinity Lutheran Church, 120 Sunset Drive, Center Township, will have a family movie night at 7 p.m. Friday.

The monthly men’s ministry breakfast is 8 a.m. Saturday.

There will be a Lenten worship service at noon Wednesday.

The weekly Lenten evening service is 7 p.m. Wednesday at First English Church, 241 Main St. There will be a light supper at 6 p.m.
