A Sharon man was injured when his car hit a guardrail along Little Creek Road in Jackson Township. The vehicle then caught fire, said Scott Garing, Harmony Fire District chief.

JACKSON TWP — A Sharon man was injured when his car hit a guardrail along Little Creek Road Friday morning.

Officials said Randall Musselman was driving his Chevrolet Impala getting off Interstate 79 southbound around 10:45 a.m. when his vehicle failed to stop, ran over a median, and hit the guardrail.

The vehicle then caught fire “underneath the dashboard,” said Scott Garing, Harmony Fire District chief.

Musselman was taken out of the vehicle after being trapped and transported by Harmony EMS ambulance. His condition was not immediately known.

Firefighters put out the fire shortly afterward.

“The police did an excellent job keeping the fire under control until we got here,” Garing said.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.

The Impala sustained heavy front-end damage.

Jackson Township police, Lancaster Township police and PennDOT were also on the scene to assist.

Traffic on Little Creek Road was reduced to one lane alternating until later Friday morning.
