Butler Police9:06 a.m. Tuesday — A school van driven by Nikolas J. Roland, 19, of Prospect rear-ended a sport utility vehicle on East Jefferson Street. He told officers that he tried to stop but slid on the wet road, a police report said.There were no students on the van, owned by Valley Lines Inc. of Freeport. The other driver, Lacey L. Melanson, 26, of Butler, suffered a minor injury.3:22 a.m. Saturday — Nicholas J. Campbell, 34, of Butler was caught at his mother’s apartment in the 200 block of West Brady Street where he had been previously banned.A 911 hang-up call sent police to the home, according to court documents. When officers got there, Arlene Campbell told police that she had been having an argument with her son because he was not allowed on the property.Police found Campbell in the home. They also learned that the owner on Nov. 2 had sent a letter to the defendant advising him that he was banned from the property.Campbell, who is charged with defiant trespass, was arrested when it was learned that he was wanted on a bench warrant. That warrant, court records showed, was issued Jan. 12 after he failed to appear in court in connection with a June 2016 defiant trespass case.3:34 p.m. Jan. 19 — Cars driven by Barbara Steele, 56, of Butler Township and Traci Lukavich, 38, of Butler collided at East Brady and Second streets. No injuries were reported but Lukavich’s car had to be towed.3:42 p.m. Jan. 18 — Patricia M. Miller, 64, of Butler was hurt when the minivan she was driving struck a utility pole along West Pearl Street near North Bluff Street. She suffered a minor injury.Miller told officers that a vehicle malfunction caused her to lose control of the van, according to police report. The vehicle had to be towed.
State Police, ButlerSaturday — Jay E. Vinroe, 51, of Connoquenessing Township was arrested for driving under the influence after he crashed his motorcycle on Route 8 in front of the Rock House bar in Clay Township.Police said when they got to the wreck they smelled alcohol on Vinroe’s breath and he appeared to be “heavily intoxicated.” He admitted that he had been drinking that night, according to court documents.He was taken to the barracks about 3 a.m. for a breath test, which showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.217 percent, or more than 2½ times the state’s 0.08 percent legal limit.In addition to DUI, Vinroe is charged with driving an unregistered vehicle, driving a vehicle without valid inspection and careless driving
State Police, Clarion6:16 p.m. Monday — A Sligo woman was hurt when she lost control of her sport utility vehicle and struck a drainage ditch on Curllsville Road in Toby Township. Sydney P. Varner, who was not wearing a seat belt, was taken to Clarion Hospital with an apparent minor injury.Police cited Varner for careless driving and a seat belt violation.9:54 p.m. Jan. 18 — A car driven by Tyler Q. McBride, 25, of Emlenton backed into a car parked on Main Street in front of Mac’s bar in Knox. Police said McBride drove away. He was later identified and cited for hit-and-run, driving with a suspended license and careless driving.
State Police, Kittanning11:51 a.m. Wednesday — A 21-year-old man from Natrona Heights, Allegheny County, who police did not identify, was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after a one-vehicle crash on Route 28 in North Buffalo Township.Tuesday — Police reported they have a suspect in a case of stolen mail taken Jan. 12 from a Lindenwood Drive home in East Franklin Township. A police report did not identify the suspected thief, who is only described as a white female.The investigation continues.
