[naviga:h3]SR receives $138K grant for roads[/naviga:h3]

SLIPPERY ROCK TWP — The township will be getting $138,000 in federal funds for a transportation alternative project.

The money will be used to widen a paved shoulder and create a striped buffer with reflective markers to separate the designated walking path from the cart way along Harmony Road in the township.

“These improvements are critical to improving pedestrian safety and reducing traffic congestion on our roadways,” said Rep. Aaron Berstine, R-10th. “I’m happy to see the township receive the federal support it requested to increase the overall safety and walkability of the community.”

The Harmony Road project is a part of a 51-project initiative, with $33 million in federal funds approved by PennDOT to improve transportation alternatives.

NEW CASTLE — Two Butler County students are performing in the 21st Stars of Tomorrow, which showcases high school talent, this weekend.

Nicole Collins and Tishy Hornsby, both of Butler, will be in the shows at 2 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the New Castle Playhouse, 202 E. Long Ave.
