BUTLER TWP — Friday is the deadline to submit an application to attend the 2017 Butler Township Police Department’s Citizens Police Academy.

The department will run the academy, starting Jan. 17, for seven consecutive Tuesdays from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Butler Township Park, 468 S. Duffy Road and various township locations.

The program will include: criminal law and investigations, domestic violence issues, patrol duties, use of force, traffic stops and the judicial system.

The academy is free and limited to 15 participants. Priority will be given to township residents and business owners.

Applications can be obtained at the police department, 290 S. Duffy Road, and must be returned to the police office by 4 p.m. Friday.

Individuals accepted into the program will be notified by the police department.
