JACKSON TWP — A township supervisor resigned from the board Tuesday.

Ron Lutz, who served as supervisor for about eight years, announced at the township’s reorganization meeting his resignation for personal reasons. He had one year left in his term.

“There are other things coming up,” Lutz said. “The township is in really good hands. It was time.”

In Lutz’s time as supervisor, the township approved a number of business developments, including Jackson’s Pointe, developments planned by Plunkett Motor Freight Rentals and developments planned by Sippel Development Company Inc.

New facilities, including the FedEx distribution center, Bard Medical and the Steamfitters training facility were constructed last year.

The township also has been undertaking various road paving and improvement projects.

Lutz also served as the supervisors’ chairman from 2014 to 2016.

Jay Grinnell, township planning commission chairman, was appointed to replace him.

“He (Lutz) and I came on the board at about the same time,” Grinnell said. “We were a good team together.”

Grinnell credits Lutz and the supervisors’ work in bringing the township financial stability and overall growth, as well as hiring township manager Chris Rearick and police Chief Terry Seilhamer.

“A lot of positive things happened when we were a team,” Grinnell said.

Grinnell said he will resign from the planning commission in February during the commission’s reorganization meeting. He also said he will seek another term on the board of supervisors once Lutz’s original term runs out at the end of this year.

Grinnell was a supervisor from 2009 to 2014 before moving to the planning commission.

“We just want to keep moving forward,” Grinnell said.
