Wilda Kathryn Reed Glenn

Wilda Kathryn Reed Glenn, 96, formerly of Butler, died at 4:40 a.m. Monday at her son's home in Delphi, Ind.

She was born April 1, 1920, in Kittanning to the late Frank and Martha Daughtery Reed.

Her marriage was to Clair A. Glenn on Aug. 12, 1950, at her parents' home in Kittanning, and he preceded her in death March 9, 2013.

She spent her adult life in Butler and moved to Delphi three and a half years ago to be with her son. She was a 1938 graduate of Kittanning High School.

She received her registered nursing degree from Indiana Hospital School of Nursing, Indiana, Pa. She worked as a registered nurse at ACMH Hospital, the VA Hospital in Butler and retired from Butler Memorial Hospital in 1982.

She was a World War II Navy veteran, lieutenant junior grade, stationed in Bethesda, Md., and Washington State, working in military hospitals.

She was a longtime and active member of the First Baptist Church of Butler and while living in Delphi, she attended her son's church, the First Baptist Church of Delphi. She was active with her local March of Dimes chapter. She enjoyed sewing, cooking and volunteering at her church. She dearly loved her family and the time they spent together.

She is survived by one daughter, Mary and the Rev. James Woodburn of Richmond, Va.; one son, the Rev. William “Bill” and Debbie Glenn of Delphi; one brother, Thomas Reed of Parma Heights, Ohio; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Wilda was preceded in death by three sisters and three brothers.

GLENN — Visitation for Wilda Kathryn Reed Glenn, who died Monday, Nov. 28, 2016, will be from 10 a.m. to noon Friday at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.Funeral services will be immediately following at noon with the Rev. Dave Maitland, the Rev. Todd Wentworth and the Rev. Sam McNamara of First Baptist Church officiating. Burial will take place at the Greenlawn Burial Estates.Officers and members of the American Legion Post 117, the American Legion Post 778 of Lyndora and the VFW Post 249 of Butler will conduct military honors at the cemetery following the service.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church, 211 W.
