ZELIENOPLE — Borough council on Friday morning approved its $10.98 million budget for 2017.

The budget, which reflects a $410,000 increase in revenue and expenses, has no tax increase.

The borough’s tax rate will remain at 5.31 mills for the new year.

A mill generates $1 in tax revenue for each $1,000 of a property’s assessed value. Each mill brings in $28,854.

The borough will work on various projects in 2017, including the revitalization project, installing gateway signs throughout the community, a new public works facility and a new salt shed.

Council will not convene at its regularly scheduled meeting time Monday evening.
