CRANBERRY TWP — A township woman charged with allegedly cutting her husband’s hand with a knife, recently waived her preliminary hearing, sending her assault case to county court.

Police said Chae Masumoto, 74, has been charged with simple assault after cutting her husband’s during an argument on Dec. 9 in their Cambridge Court apartment.

Police said Masumoto told them she and her husband, Dave, were arguing while she was doing dishes and that her husband struck her with a beer bottle before his hand was cut.

Chae Masumoto said she held the knife toward Dave and that he approached her to get the knife out of her hand, according to the report.

In the ensuing struggle, Dave Masumoto’s right middle and ring fingers were lacerated.

Dave Masumoto said to police his wife then threw glass dishes at the wall not aimed at him.

Cranberry EMS found no evidence of Chae Masumoto being hit with a beer bottle.

She is charged with simple assault and will be formally arraigned in Butler County Court on Jan. 24.
