Municipal board manager named
BUFFALO TWP — The Municipal Authority of Buffalo Township has a new leader at the helm.
Kristine Donaldson, 39, of Butler is the new authority manager.
Donaldson previously was a water quality supervisor for Pennsylvania American Water, regularly checking seven facilities for the company.
Before becoming a supervisor, she was a water treatment plant operator.
Donaldson said when the authority post opened earlier this year, she was interested.
“Just looking for new opportunities and growth,” she said.
Donaldson was glad to hear the authority board selected her last month.
“Obviously, I was excited,” she said.
John Haven, authority board vice chairperson, said Donaldson was the most qualified of six applicants.
“She clearly was the best candidate,” Haven said.
He cited her experience with both water and sewage service.
Donaldson has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Pittsburgh and is a state-certified drinking water and wastewater operator.
Her salary was unavailable.
Donaldson replaces longtime manager Don Amadee, who died in July.
The authority provides water service for more than 5,000 customers in Buffalo and Freeport as well sewage service for nearly 4,700 Buffalo residences.
The authority also supplies the water for the South Buffalo Township Municipal Authority.
