BUTLER CHURCH OF THE NAZARENE

Gwen Atkinson will provide the special music Sunday at the Butler Church of the Nazarene, 4410 Oakdale Road and Route 68.

CHRIST COMMUNITY UNITED METHODIST

The prayer shawl group of Christ Community United Methodist Church, 205 N. Duffy Road, will meet at 6:30 p.m. today.

Holy Communion will be observed Sunday at both services.

Poinsettia orders are due Dec. 11.

CHRIST OUTREACH

Christ Outreach Church, 120 Walker Ave., will serve Communion at the Sunday morning worship service.

COMMUNITY LIFE

Community Life Church holds service at McQuistion Elementary School.

The St. Vincent de Paul Foodbank collection truck will be at the church Sunday to accept pasta and paper product donations. This will be the last pickup before Christmas.

COVENANT PRESBYTERIAN

Members of Covenant Presbyterian Church, 230 E. Jefferson St., will decorate the church for Christmas beginning at 9:30 a.m. Saturday.

FIRST BAPTIST

First Baptist Church, 221 W. New Castle St., will have the faith class Christmas party at 5:30 p.m. Friday in a class member’s home.

First Baptist will join other area churches to present the Christmas cantata “Darkness Into Light” at 7 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church of Grove City and at 7 p.m. Saturday at Harmony Baptist Church in New Castle.

The children’s Christmas party will be from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at the church.

The Berean class Christmas banquet will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday.

The church will have an 8:30 a.m. breakfast Sunday, a prayer service, Sunday school and a worship service.

FIRST ENGLISH LUTHERAN

The Rev. Kimberly VanDriel, pastor of First English Lutheran Church, 241 N. Main St., will participate in the “Pastors’ Plunge” fundraising event for Camp Lutherlyn. The plunge will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Camp Lutherlyn Lake. Donations to sponsor her are welcome.

The Wittenberg Winter Advent and Dinner/Worship will be at 6:15 p.m. Wednesday. Take a dish of food to share.

Forestville United Methodist Church

Forestville United Methodist Church, 124 Boyers Road, Forestville, will have Communion Sunday.

GLADE RUN UNITED PRESBYTERIAN

Glade Run United Presbyterian Church, 1091 Pittsburgh Road, Valencia, will have its women’s fellowship luncheon Saturday.

GRACE @ CALVARY LUTHERAN

Grace @ Calvary Lutheran Church, 123 E. Diamond St., will have Glow, its monthly youth event for fun and faith, from 3 to 7 p.m. Saturday. It is for youths ages 5 to 12.

Volunteers from the church will serve the community dinner Monday at First English Lutheran Church. Setup will be at 4 p.m., and the meal will be at 5 p.m.

Butler Relay For Life will meet at 6 p.m. Monday at the church.

GRACEWAY

GraceWay meets at the Center Township Elementary School on Mercer Road.

The Tom Walker family, Tim Huff and Tom Kifer will provide the special music during the worship service Sunday.

HILL UNITED PRESBYTERIAN

Hill United Presbyterian Church, 501 Second St., will celebrate the sacrament of the Lord’s Supper Sunday.

Sunday is the deadline to order poinsettias to decorate the chancel.

The women’s book club will meet at 12:25 p.m. Sunday in the Hall Memorial Lounge.

The Hill Quilters will meet at 9 a.m. Friday.

The food request for December is cereal.

MARS UNITED PRESBYTERIAN

Mars United Presbyterian Church, 232 Crowe Ave., Mars, will celebrate Advent and light the PEACE candle at both services Sunday. Communion also will be served at both services.

The women’s Bible study group will meet at 1:30 p.m. Monday in the board room. GriefShare will meet at 7 p.m. in the red room.

NEW ZION

New Zion Evangelical Congregational Church, 1195 Airport Road, Emlenton, will have its annual Christmas dinner at 5 p.m. Sunday. Take a dish to share, a dessert, or both, and table service. Those who cannot bring food also may attend. A family game will be included.

OLD UNION PRESBYTERIAN

Old Union Presbyterian Church, 200 Union Church Road, Mars, will donate new, unwrapped gifts for the Lighthouse Christmas Toy Shoppe. The gifts will be for infants to children age 16. Take the gifts to the church by Dec. 11.

Christmas caroling to homebound and care facility residents will be on Dec. 11. Carollers will leave at 4:30 p.m. from the church. To participate, sign up in the church lobby.

RIDER LUTHERAN CHURCH

Rider Lutheran Church, 189 Rider Church Road, West Sunbury, will have Communion during the Sunday worship service. There will be a potluck lunch and raffle drawing after the service. Take a dish to share.

Bible study will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

The choir will meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday.

SAINT ANDREWS UNITED PRESBYTERIAN

Joint Sunday school classes at Saint Andrews United Presbyterian Church, 201 E. Jefferson St., will meet during Advent at 9:15 a.m. Sundays in the church library.

The Christmas Cookie Walk and Alternative Gift Fair will be Dec. 10. There is a sign-up sheet for helpers in the narthex. For more information, see Janice King or Lori Love-Franke.

THE SOWERS CHAPEL

The Sowers Chapel, 100 Iron Bridge Road, Sarver, will be open from 3 to 8 p.m. Saturday for the Christmas in the Country house tour. The tour is part of Freeport Celebrates Christmas.

ST. JOHN'S LUTHERAN

St. John’s Lutheran Church of Connoquenessing, 100 Main St., Connoquenessing, will celebrate the second Sunday of Advent with Holy Communion during the Sunday worship service. There will be a congregational meeting afterward.

Cash donations will support the December cause of the month, the Butler Chapter of the Salvation Army. The church also will provide gifts for a Salvation Army needy family. The deadline to take the gifts to the church is Dec. 12.

ST. LUKE'S LUTHERAN

The flannels and flapjacks Christmas party of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 310 W. Main St., Saxonburg, will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Crytzer home.

The parents’ drop and shop will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. For more information, call Kristen Begeman at 724-352-5151.

The second Sunday of Advent will include the candlelighting litany and Holy Communion.

There will be a new members’ luncheon at 12:15 p.m. Sunday in the fellowship hall.

The bell choir will play at the 2 p.m. Sunday worship service at Elmcroft Assisted Living Center, 100 Bella Court, Saxonburg.

ST. MARK'S EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN

St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 201 W. Jefferson St., will have a bake sale in the fellowship hall before and after the 6 p.m. Saturday worship service. The service will include Communion.

There will be one worship service at 10 a.m. Sunday with Communion.

The youth choir will practice at 11:15 a.m. Sunday and the confirmation class will meet at 4:30 p.m.

“3T” will meet at 9 a.m. Monday in the fellowship hall.

The Ruth Circle will meet at 9 a.m. Tuesday in the church lounge, and the evangelism committee will meet at 1 p.m. in the church lounge.

TRINITY LUTHERAN

Trinity Lutheran Church, 120 Sunset Drive, Center Township, will show “The Polar Express” at 7 p.m. Friday in the fellowship hall.

The Sunday school class will bake cookies for Meals on Wheels Sunday. The youths will assemble college care packages during the Sunday school hour. Toys will be sorted for the Christmas toy drive after the 11 a.m. Sunday worship service.

The Christian education ministry will meet at 6 p.m. Monday.

Desserts for Meals on Wheels are due at the church by Tuesday.

VALENCIA PRESBYTERIAN

Valencia Presbyterian Church, 80 Sterrett St., Valencia, will host its community Christmas dinner at 5 p.m. Saturday. The youth chime choir will entertain. An offering will benefit the VPC Youth Ministries. To make a reservation, call the church office at 724-625-2002 by Saturday.
