Paul E. Gallagher, 89, of New Brighton passed away unexpectedly Thursday while under the care of Cranberry Place, Cranberry Township.

Born March 24, 1927, in New Brighton, he was the son of the late Wilbert and the late Helen Rhodabarger Gallagher.

In his youth, Paul achieved the rank of Eagle Scout in the New Brighton Boy Scout Troop. Paul proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He graduated from Geneva College in 1949. While at Geneva, he met and later married his wife of 65 years, Dorothy Burry Gallagher. They married July 16, 1951.

He spent most of his career with Gulf Oil which transitioned into Chevron, where he was employed as one of their chemists. Paul was a member of Camp Run United Presbyterian Church and served as an elder, trustee and their treasurer for many years. He was a member of the American Chemical Society for over 50 years. Paul traveled some for his work and was privileged to visit Ireland, Puerto Rico, Portugal and South Korea. He also enjoyed traveling with Dorothy during their summer breaks, and they especially enjoyed the eastern coast states as their destinations. They enjoyed many trips to Hershey. He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife, Dorothy Burry Gallagher, and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he also was preceded in death by one sister, Jean Gillespie.

GALLAGHER — The family of Paul E. Gallagher, who passed away Thursday, Oct. 27, 2016, will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Monday at the Boylan Funeral Home, 324 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople.A funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. Monday with Rev. Andrew Shaffer, pastor, officiating.He will be laid to rest in the Zelienople Community Mausoleum, Zelienople.His family suggests donations in Paul's memory be made to Camp Run Presbyterian Church, P.O.
