Gisele Louise Eiler, 88, of North Washington passed away Monday at VNA Inpatient Hospice Butler surrounded by her family.

Born March 2, 1928, in Paris she was the daughter of the late Louis Cedard and Jeanne Sejourne Cedard.

Gisele met her late husband, John “Jack” Eiler, while he was serving in the military. They married Sept. 8, 1945, at the courthouse and Catholic church in Boulogne, France.

Gisele was a long-devoted member of the former VFW Auxiliary Post 7073. She also traveled faithfully with her husband, Jack, as he served as Armstrong County and 26th District commander of the VFW. Gisele especially enjoyed dancing with Jack at the VFW dances.

Gisele loved spending time outside mowing her lawn and tending to her flower gardens.

A favorite hobby of hers was crocheting and knitting. She enjoyed reading countless books, doing the crossword and putting puzzles together.

Gisele loved nothing more than spending time and cooking for her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughters, Joanne (Don) Shay of Palm Springs, Fla., Dixie Eiler of Bremerton, Wash., Christine (fiancé, Ray Hinton) Eiler of Butler and Laurie (Tim) Thompson of Eau Claire; her sons, Mike (Linda) Eiler of Petrolia and Jeff Eiler of Marianna, Fla.; her daughter-in-law, Joyce Eiler of Maryland; 60 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Jennifer; her son, Daniel Eiler; her grandson, Eric Eiler; her daughter-in-law, Sherry Eiler; and her siblings, Lilian and Michel.

EILER — Friends of Gisele Louise Eiler, who died Monday, Oct. 24, 2016, may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the H. Jack Buzard Funeral Home, 302 Wayne St., Parker.
