Bus service halts Thanksgiving DayThe Butler Transit Authority’s bus service will not be in service Thursday to observe Thanksgiving. Service will resume Friday.The authority’s Santa Trolley bus will take part in the annual Spirit of Christmas Parade on Saturday.Before the parade, the bus will be available at New Castle Street Plaza for Stuff the Santa Bus from noon to 3 p.m., during which the authority will collect new, unwrapped, toys, children’s clothes sizes 5 to 14 and nonperishable food items.The authority will hold the event in partnership with Butler Media Group, Clearview Mall and Salvation Army.The Santa Bus also will collect items at the Clearview Mall near Garfield’s entrance from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.Donations will benefit the Salvation Army and local community.

Polar Express Night set at Zelie libraryZELIENOPLE — The Zelienople Public Library will host its annual Polar Express Night at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 5 at the library, 227 S. High St.Children may wear their pajamas. “The Polar Express” book will be read and children can make a craft and meet Santa.The program is free and registration is not required.
