N. Wash. woman arrested

WASHINGTON TWP — A North Washington woman, awaiting trial on charges she and a 14-year-old boy broke into a township garage in June, is now accused of sending the teenager a letter.

Chrystal K. Brown, 43, in the letter sent earlier this month, asked the boy to meet her, according to Butler County detectives.

The teen, who is on house arrest through the juvenile court case stemming from the alleged burglary with Brown, is prohibited from having any contact with the woman, according to court documents.

The boy, who authorities did not identify, on Nov. 10 turned over the letter to the assistant principal at Moniteau High School, where he attends classes.

Detectives on Thursday arrested Brown on a charge of corruption of minors. She was arraigned and placed in the Butler County Prison on $50,000 bail.

State police five months earlier arrested Brown on charges she broke into a two-car garage June 10 at a home on Christie Road. She also allegedly stole $500 worth of tools, court documents said.

The defendant acknowledged her role in the alleged crime and admitted taking the boy with her that night. Police accused her of “enticing” the boy to help her in the burglary, documents said.

Brown is charged in that case, which is pending in Butler County court, with burglary, trespass, theft, corruption of minors and criminal mischief.

While free on her own recognizance following her arrest in June, she allegedly wrote the boy a letter in which she referred to the break-in and asked him to meet her.

Detectives said the contents in the letter also revealed that Brown, who is a mother and grandmother, “has an amorous relationship with (the boy).”

She addressed the letter to “Baby Boy,” documents said, and signed it “yours only & forever baby girl.”

Meanwhile, state police last week filed charges against Brown in an unrelated case for calling 911 on Oct. 11 to make a bogus report.

She is charged in that case with false alarms to agencies of public safety, harassment and disorderly conduct.

Preliminary hearings in both cases filed last week are set for Nov. 29 at the office of District Judge Lewis Stoughton in Chicora.
