CENTER TWP — A two-vehicle collision on Route 8 restricted traffic along the highway this morning.

Butler State Trooper Shaun Milkovich said both drivers received minor injuries in the accident, which was reported in a 6:17 a.m. 911 call.

The women, whose names were unavailable, were taken by Butler Ambulance to Butler Memorial Hospital for treatment.

Milkovich said the accident occurred when the northbound Ford Escape ran a red light at North Glenwood Way, hitting a the driver’s side of a Ford Taurus turning left into the southbound lanes of Route 8.

The Escape’s front end was extensively damaged from the impact, which left the vehicle stopped in the left southbound lane.

The Taurus spun into the right northbound lane.

Traffic in both directions was alternately stopped or restricted to one lane.

Both northbound lanes were opened at 6:59 a.m. The southbound lanes were unrestricted at 7:05 a.m.

The Unionville Volunteer Fire Company also responded to the call. Firefighters spread a powdered material to soak up spilled fluid.

Milkovich said a citation is pending.
