Mars grad White named 1st team all-conferenceGROVE CITY — Mars graduate and Grove College women’s soccer senior defender Jordyn White has been named first team All-Presidents’ Athletic Conference for the third straight season.White helped the Wolverines (15-5) post nine shutouts and a 1.00 goals-against average this season. She led the team with eight assists, second most in the PAC.Junior midfielder Lindsay Hutton and junior forward Lacy Harkrader were other GCC first team, selections. Seneca Valley graduate and sophomore defender Claire Kocur and junior goalkeeper Trishae Winters made second team.

GCC’s Reese earns PAC player of year honorGROVE CITY — Grove City College senior midfielder Dale Reese has been named Presidents’ Athletic Conference Men’s Soccer Player of the Year.Reese scored 10 goals and added nine assists this season. His 29 points are third in the PAC and he led the conference with six game-winning goals.Grove City is 14-4-1 on the season.

Goydos leads PGA Tour Champions finaleSCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — Paul Goydos shot an 8-under 62 on Friday in windy conditions to take a three-stroke lead in the PGA Tour Champions’ season-ending Charles Schwab Cup Championship.The 52-year-old Goydos holed out from 167 yards for eagle on the par-4 12th and closed with birdies on the par-3 17th and par-5 18th on Desert Mountain Club’s Cochise Course.Colin Montgomerie, third in Charles Schwab Cup season standings, was second. The Scot birdied the final two holes.Points leader Bernhard Langer topped the group at 67. The top five in the standings — Richmond winner Scott McCarron is second, followed by Montgomerie, Joe Durant and Miguel Angel Jimenez — can take the season title with a victory Sunday. McCarron holed out from the fairway for eagle on the par-5 15th in a 69. Durant shot 70, and Jimenez had a 74.

Vonn breaks arm in ski training crashCOPPER MOUNTAIN, Colo. — Lindsey Vonn underwent surgery to fix a broken right arm after a crash while training on the slopes in Copper Mountain, Colorado.The four-time overall World Cup champion said the wipeout happened Thursday and had surgery that night in Vail. She posted X-ray pictures of her arm on social media.It’s the latest setback for Vonn, who had three significant breaks near her knee joint in a super-G crash in Andorra last March.The 32-year-old Vonn was tentatively hoping to be back in time for the races in Lake Louise, Alberta, in early December.Said Vonn on Facebook: “While I am beyond frustrated by this latest setback, at least my knees are OK and I will return to the slopes as soon as possible, as I always do!”
