Investigators check out the cab of a tractor-trailer that was involved in a fatal crash on Route 68 in Donegal Township on Thursday. Gwendylyn P. Green of Butler was killed when her car collided head-on with the vehicle.

DONEGAL TWP — A Butler woman was identified as the person killed in a Thursday morning car-versus-semi crash on Chicora Road (Route 68).

State police said Gwendylyn P. Green, 25, suffered “fatal injuries upon impact,” but didn’t provide details.

Police report the Chevrolet Cobalt driven by Green was eastbound on the road when it crossed the center line while going around the curve near O’Donnell Road.

According to police, Green’s vehicle collided head-on with an International TADC tractor-trailer driven by Kenneth L. Fleeger, 54, of Bruin. The tractor-trailer, which had on it the logo for Universal Forest Products, was westbound on the road, about 6:50 a.m.

Chicora Road was closed for several hours while crews cleared the scene. Car traffic traveling in both directions on Chicora Road was diverted onto Medical School Road.

Chicora Road was reopened at 11:30 a.m.

The Chicora Volunteer Fire Department and Chicora Ambulance responded to the 911 call.

Pennsylvania Department of Transportation workers spread gravel over an oily substance covering Chicora Road from the accident scene to west of O’Donnell Road.

Authorities did not confirm whether that coating was a factor leading to the accident.

An investigation in the cause of the crash continues.
