BC3 nets WPCC crown

Christina Davis and Mary Romano both dropped 11 kills and Brittney Bianco had 27 assists as the Butler County Community College women's volleyball team earned the Western Pennsylvania Collegiate Conference Championship with a 3-0 sweep of Pennsylvania Highlands Community College on Saturday.

Belle Chiodo tallied 13 digs for the Pioneers (19-2), who won by scores of 25-18, 25-17 and 25-16.

Baylee Verner, Bianco, Davis and Romano each made the All-Conference Team for the Pioneers.

BC3 moves on to the NJCAA Region XX Tournament and will take on host Anne Arundel (Md.) Community College on Friday.

Seneca Valley graduate Josh Allman scored the game-winning goal with under three minutes remaining in regulation, lifting Slippery Rock University to a 2-1 victory over visiting Lock Haven.

The goal was assisted by Butler High product Kyle Boyer.

Justin Minda scored the first goal for The Rock (4-9-2, 3-5-2).

Kaitlyn Barackman and Tyler Spence both scored a goal in The Rock's 3-0 shutout of Lock Haven.

Kylie Downs made three saves in net.

SRU (9-6-1, 9-4-1) punched its ticket to the PSAC Tournament for the seventh straight season.
