Marcellus, Weyand join bowling HOFBUTLER TWP — Brian Marcellus and Dalton “Skip” Weyand will be inducted into the Butler County Bowling Association Hall of Fame in the spring.Marcellus, 45, has bowled 18 300 games and four 800-series in his career. He has held the high average in 10 different leagues.Weyand, 64, has been a BCBA member for 48 years. He is a certified bronze level coach, is a former BCBA president and has served as president, vice president, secretary and treasurer of several different leagues.
Chapla, Howard earn PSAC honorsSLIPPERY ROCK — Slippery Rock University football players Jake Chapla and Titus Howard have been named PSAC West Special Teams and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively.Chapla booted field goals of 44 and 51 yards while Howard had two quarterback sacks — one for a safety — and in interception in last week's 37-25 win over Mercyhurst.
Fury vacates heavyweight titlesLONDON — Tyson Fury has vacated his WBO and WBA world heavyweight boxing titles to concentrate on his treatment and recovery from drug use.Fury’s promoters released a statement confirming the decision. It comes in the wake of his second withdrawal from a rematch with Wladimir Klitschko — scheduled for Oct. 29 — after being declared “medically unfit” by his team and following his admitted bingeing on cocaine and alcohol.The 28-year-old Fury’s license has been suspended by British boxing authorities.
