Sara Cobern

Sara C. Cobern of Butler received a master's degree of applied statistics from Pennsylvania State University. She graduated with a 3.97 GPA.

Cobern received a bachelor's degree in mathematics with high distinction and a bachelor's degree in statistics with high distinction in 2015 from Pennsylvania State University. She was a Schreyer Honors Scholar in mathematics and had a 3.94 GPA.

She is a statistical engineer for Corning Inc. in Corning, N.Y.

Cobern graduated from Butler High School in 2011 and is the daughter of Steve and Cheryl Cobern of Butler.

U.S. Army National Guard Staff Sgt. Grant Tad Foley of Meridian graduated cum laude with a bachelor's degree in marine transportation from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy.He received a commission as an ensign in the U.S. Navy and a third mate unlimited tonnage commercial shipping license.Foley was a four-year varsity baseball letterman and made the Landmark Conference All-Academic list three years in a row. He also received the school's Scholar Athlete Award.He is a 2011 graduate of Shady Side Academy.Foley will attend the U.S. Navy flight school in Pensacola, Fla.He is the son of Jeffrey and Kathleen Sommariva Foley of Butler.THE COMMUNITY DEPARTMENT publishes announcements of residents or former residents graduating from college or technical school.
