Antonio Porreca I

Antonio Raymond Porreca I, 90, of Zelienople passed away peacefully Friday, surrounded by his family.

Born April 26, 1926, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late Michele and Elizabetta (Rossi) Porreca.

Tony proudly served our country in the U.S. Army during World War II and was awarded the Purple Heart, the Bronze Star and the Combat Infantryman's Badge for his honorable and faithful service.

Tony worked in public utilities construction, and was the founder of Porreca and Co., a cofounder of DonPor Construction, a vice-president of H.J. Schneider Construction and a member of the leadership team of Dan Sciullo & Co. He also was a lifelong member of the V.F.W. and the American Legion.

He is survived by his two sons, Antonio R. Porreca II and his wife, Tracy, of Delta Junction, Alaska, and Michael W. Porreca of Wexford; his daughter, Bobbie Porreca of Zelienople; four grandchildren, Paul Michael Porreca of Zelienople, Ashley Lauren Walker and her husband, Ian, of Zelienople, Michael Robert Porreca of Anchorage, Alaska, and Samantha Sarah Alkire and her husband, Zachary, of Wasilla, Alaska; one great-grandson, Tristian Michael Walker of Zelienople; and three sisters, Anna M. Porreca of Gibsonia, Clara Porreca of Cranberry Township and Antonetta Sciullo of Shaler Township.

In addition to his parents, Tony was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 46 years, Sarah J. (Drake) Porreca, who died May 21, 2006; and two brothers, Fernando Porreca and Michele Porreca.

Porreca — A memorial service for Antonio Raymond Porreca I, who died Friday, Sept. 2, 2016, will be at 4 p.m. today at the Orchard Hill Church, 2551 Brandt School Road, Wexford, with military honors to follow.After the conclusion of the service, please join the family for a dinner in honor of Tony's life at the Walnut Grill on Perry Highway in Wexford.A private interment will take place at the Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Verona.If desired, memorial donations may be made in Tony's honor to Family Hospice and Palliative Care, 50 Moffett St., Pittsburgh, PA 15243.Expressions of sympathy may be shared with Tony's family at www.boylanfuneralservices.com.
