Josephine Perino Hermann
Josephine Perino Hermann, 94, of Sarasota, Fla., formerly of Boyers, Pa., passed peacefully in her sleep Wednesday.
Josephine was born Feb. 4, 1922, to Frank and Lisa Perino in North Braddock. She was the youngest of nine children.
She obtained her nursing degree from Braddock General Hospital School of Nursing. Shortly thereafter, she married Edward Hermann on Jan. 11, 1943. She stated that this was the happiest day of her life. Together they had four sons, Edward, Kenneth, Daniel and Kurt. She worked part- time as a nurse while raising their children above the Clover Farm Store, which was owned and operated by her husband.
In 1960, the family moved to the farm in Boyers. Josephine began working at Butler Memorial Hospital as an ICU nurse and continued until her retirement in 1981. Following her retirement, they moved to Sarasota, where she continued working for a short time at a local hospital.
Josephine was an intelligent, caring, stubborn woman who truly believed in serving others. During her life, she nursed many patients and was quite involved in her church, where she helped with meals and sewed sleeping bags full of necessities for the homeless. She also crocheted and knitted many items for loved ones.
Josephine is survived by Edward and Daniel Hermann, both of Sarasota, Fla., and Kenneth Hermann of Pittsburgh. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Susan Hermann of Boyers, six grandchildren, Danielle, Ashley, Travis, Kara, Aaron and Joshua, and seven great- grandchildren.
Josephine was preceded in death by her husband, Edward, who passed away, May 25, 1984, and her youngest son, Kurt, who passed away unexpectedly in August 2005.
HERMANN — The family will receive friends of Josephine Perino Hermann, who passed away Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2016, from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the William F. Young Funeral Home, 132 Main St., West Sunbury.Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m., with the Rev.
