Part-time officer fired for racial slur

MCKEESPORT — A part-time police officer has been fired after a social media post involving the officer surfaced that apparently included a racial slur.

The post that appeared Tuesday afternoon showed part-time McKeesport officer Melissa Adamson in a uniform with a caption reading “I’m the law today” and ending with the derogatory term for blacks.

Mayor Michael Cherepko said on the borough’s Facebook page that what he called the “past social media post” that “surfaced just a few hours ago” displayed what he called “a degree of conduct and character” that was “absolutely unacceptable.”

Adamson told a Pittsburgh television station she’s not a racist and is sorry to everyone she offended. She says it was a “stupid mistake.”
