Senate moves on funding for FlintWASHINGTON — The Senate voted to move forward Monday on a $10 billion water projects bill that includes $220 million in emergency funding for Flint, Mich., and other communities beset by lead-contaminated water.Senators advanced the bill 90-1 on a procedural vote, with approval expected later this week.The bipartisan measure would authorize 29 projects in 18 states for dredging and other projects overseen by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.The measure includes $100 million in grants and loans to replace lead-contaminated pipes in Flint and other cities with lead emergencies, as well as $70 million toward loans to improve water infrastructure across the country.

IDs now needed at Arlington cemeteryARLINGTON, Va. — Arlington National Cemetery will increase its security measures, including requiring a government-issued photo ID for people arriving in cars and screening pedestrian visitors.Cemetery spokeswoman Jennifer Lynch said in an e-mail Monday that the measures will be phased in starting in November.All vehicle access will require presenting ID and will be subject to random inspections.All pedestrians will be screened through the welcome center. Lynch says the screenings will be similar to those at museums in the national capital, where bags and briefcases are generally checked by hand.

Ohio U. removes Ailes’ nameATHENS, Ohio — Officials say the name of Roger Ailes will be removed from a newsroom at Ohio University and a gift to the school will be returned as a result of the sexual harassment allegations against the former Fox News chairman.Ailes has denied the allegations. Fox News parent 21st Century Fox settled a lawsuit with first accuser Gretchen Carlson, paying her $20 million and publicly apologizing.
