Meadowcroft Rockshelter and Historic Village in Avella, Washington County, will host an American Indian Heritage Weekend from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 24 and 25. Costumed re-enactors will demonstrate everyday American Indian life. Visitors can explore the interior of a wigwam, inspect re-created prehistoric artifacts, learn about Indian agriculture, and try their hand using an atlatl, a prehistoric spear thrower.
