Meadowcroft Rockshelter and Historic Village in Avella, Washington County, will host an American Indian Heritage Weekend from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 24 and 25. Costumed re-enactors will demonstrate everyday American Indian life. Visitors can explore the interior of a wigwam, inspect re-created prehistoric artifacts, learn about Indian agriculture, and try their hand using an atlatl, a prehistoric spear thrower. Drake Well Museum, Titusville, features a new exhibit gallery on the birth of the oil and gas industry. Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays and noon to 5 p.m. Sundays. PITTSBURGH

Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens, 700 Frank Curto Drive, will host family yoga classes Sept. 18 and Oct. 23. Phipps is open 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, and until 10 p.m. Fridays. National Aviary, 700 Arch St., presents the Butterfly Garden outdoors daily from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., weather permitting. The Butterfly Garden is included with general admission of $14 for adults and $13 for senior citizens and children 2 to 12. Visit aviary.org.

Children’s Museum, Allegheny Square, hosts “Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood: A Grr-ific Exhibit.” Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. Admission is $16 for adults and $14 for children 2 to 18 and senior citizens. Visit www.pittsburghkids.org.

Carnegie Museum of Natural History, 4400 Forbes Ave., Oakland, hosts the traveling exhibition “50 Greatest Photographs of National Geographic,” through Sept. 11. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays through Saturdays with extended hours until 8 p.m. Thursdays and noon to 5 p.m. Sundays. Admission is $19.95 for adults, $14.95 for senior citizens, and $11.95 for children 3 to 18. Visit www.carnegiemnh.org.

Carnegie Science Center, North Side, hosts “Tech Tours” of the USS Requin, a Cold War-era submarine moored along the Ohio River, on Sept. 11.
