CRANBERRY TWP — A township man is jailed on $250,000 bail after he allegedly sent his wife photographs of a loaded gun and threatened to shoot her.

Township police on Sunday arrested 50-year-old Jeffrey T. Sarubbi at the couple’s house on Ashford Drive. They also seized his guns — a pistol, a rifle and a shotgun.

District Judge Lewis Stoughton arraigned Sarubbi on misdemeanor charges of possessing an instrument of crime with intent to use it, terroristic threats and harassment.

He later was placed in the Butler County Prison.

On Monday, Debra Sarubbi, 50, got a temporary protection from abuse order against her husband.

For the past month, according to court documents she said the defendant had been “mentally abusing” her and threatening to kill her if she filed for divorce.

She told authorities that she and her husband were arguing Saturday. She eventually went to stay at a neighbor’s house.

But about 5 a.m. Sunday, police said, he allegedly threatened her by text messages.

“The fight escalated,” Debra Sarubbi said in court papers, “and Jeff started sending me pictures of his loaded gun saying he would die for his house and shoot anyone that got near.”

In her application for the PFA, she noted that Sarubbi has “threatened to kill me numerous times.”

Debra Sarubbi was granted a temporary PFA, which evicted the defendant from their home and banned him from contacting his wife. Additionally, he is prohibited from possessing firearms.

A hearing for a permanent PFA order is set for Tuesday.

His preliminary hearing in the criminal case is set for Sept. 9 at the office of District Judge Dave Kovach in Cranberry Township.
