Rt 19 to get upgrades at 3 intersections
JACKSON TWP — About $3 million in state funds will be used to improve three intersections on or near Route 19 in the northern part of the township.
Intersections to be improved with traffic controls and signals in 2017 are Route 19 and Little Creek Road; Little Creek Road and Mercer Road; and Route 19, Fanker Road, Wise Road and Mennonite Lane.
The latter will have a five-way traffic signal. Township officials said this is because of ambulances exiting the Harmony EMS station on Mennonite Lane.
The township supervisors said the intersection at Little Creek Road and Mercer Road is one of the most dangerous in the township.
This work will follow significant upgrades done on Route 19 at Route 528 in the southern section of the township in recent years.
New traffic lights were installed on Route 19 at its intersection with Jackson’s Pointe Court in 2014 and at Zehner School Road in 2015.
A new intersection was also constructed this year at Route 528, Tomlinson Road and Jo Deener Drive.
