The Rev. James Campbell will be the guest minister for the Sunday worship service at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 230 E. Jefferson St. Campbell, now retired, served at Faith Presbyterian Church in Butler for many years.

Dutilh United Methodist Church, 1270 Dutilh Road, Cranberry Township and 525 Pittsburgh St., Mars, will have an outdoor community service at 10:30 a.m. Sunday at the Cranberry Township Park amphitheater. The service will include a blessing for returning school students and teachers and a Blessing of the Backpacks, followed by a picnic and concert.

FIRST BAPTIST

First Baptist Christian School, a ministry of First Baptist Church, 221 W. New Castle St., will open at 8 a.m. Wednesday.

Youths of First Baptist Church of Evans City, 242 S. Washington St., Evans City, will meet at 7 p.m. Friday.

The foundations men’s theology group will meet at 7 a.m. Saturday.

FIRST ENGLISH LUTHERAN

First English Lutheran Church, 241 N. Main St., will have a congregation workday Saturday. Assignments will be given at 8:30 a.m. The work will be from 9 a.m. to noon and include tree and hedge trimming, window cleaning, weed pulling and other tasks. Take garden tools and work gloves.

The worship service will be at 9:30 a.m. Sunday.

GRACE@CALVARY LUTHERAN

The evangelism and stewardship committee of Grace @ Calvary Lutheran Church, 123 E. Diamond St., will meet at 11:30 a.m. Sunday.

Church members will lead worship with adult day program participants at LIFE Butler County at 11 a.m. Monday and Tuesday. To help with the services, meet at the church at 9:40 a.m.

HILL UNITED PRESBYTERIAN

Hill United Presbyterian Church, 501 Second St., will have a pizza and game night from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday for youths entering grades 5 through 12.

The garden club will meet at 5 p.m. today to remove shrubbery. The rain date will be Aug. 25.

MARS UNITED PRESBYTERIAN

Mars United Presbyterian Church, 232 Crowe Ave., Mars, will have its session meeting at 7 p.m. today in the board room.

New Zion Evangelical Congregational Church, Route 38, five miles north of Emlenton, will have a parking lot picnic beginning at 6 p.m. Saturday. Take table service and lawn chairs. SAINT ANDREWS UNITED PRESBYTERIAN

Saint Andrews United Presbyterian Church, 201 E. Jefferson St., will have a Blessing of the Backpacks during worship Aug. 28. Students and teachers will take their backpacks and book bags to receive a special blessing and gift.

The Tenth Annual Community Day of Prayer will be Sept. 10. The sanctuary will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for prayer. Church members also will pray for half-hour periods and can sign up in the narthex or contact Susan Moon.
