Philharmonic free concert to honor BC3
BUTLER TWP — The Pittsburgh Philharmonic will help celebrate the 15th anniversary of Butler County Community College’s Succop Theater on Sunday.
A free concert and picnic will begin at 2 p.m.
The Pittsburgh Philharmonic is Southwestern Pennsylvania’s premier volunteer orchestra.
Edward Leonard is the music director and conductor.
About 60 musicians hailing from the tri-state area, and ranging in age from 15 to 80, perform great works of classical music around the region.
Group members often perform in independent chamber ensembles.
Represented this Sunday by one of these many ensembles, the Pittsburgh Philharmonic presents the Aeolian Winds of Pittsburgh.
This wind quintet will play selections by Leonard Bernstein, Ralph Vaughan Williams, and John Williams, among others.
Food, contests for tickets to upcoming shows, and mingling with members of the Philharmonic at the picnic are planned.
Tickets are necessary but free, so call 724-284-8505 or e-mail Larry.Stock@bc3.edu.
