Pact with Hershey Trust limits member pay, terms

HARRISBURG — Pennsylvania’s attorney general says her office has a new agreement on the governance and operations of Milton Hershey’s multibillion-dollar charitable trust that controls the candy maker that bears his name.

Attorney General Kathleen Kane announced Friday the agreement was filed in Dauphin County’s orphans’ court. The agreement involves five board members leaving. It also would limit board member service and compensation.

Kane says the agreement developed from an investigation into the Hershey Trust’s compliance with a 2013 agreement and shouldn’t affect the candy maker. The Hershey Trust funds a school for disadvantaged children established by Milton Hershey and his wife. It also owns Hershey Entertainment and Resorts.
