Gas, water queries heard

Adams residents ask about plan

ADAMS TWP — Two more residents turned up at the supervisors meeting on Monday night to ask questions about a housing development that hasn’t come before the planning commission yet.

Bill Been of Good Luck Lane off Davidson Road had questions and suggestions for the supervisors regarding a Weaver Master Builder plan on the Simmons property on Pearce Road. The plan would be to the north of Been’s property.

The developer came to a planning commission meeting to see if a housing development would fit the township’s ordinances, but has not brought anything formal before the township yet.

At the last township meeting, Rob Krauthamel implored the supervisors to turn down the Weaver plan, as it would not fit in with the current neighborhood.

On Monday, Been asked the supervisors if residents of Good Luck Lane, which is across from the Simmons property, could tap into the Water Authority of Adams Township line if and when Weaver brings a formal plan for the property to be developed.

Donald Aiken, chairman of the supervisors, told Been that would be a question for the water authority.

“But I don’t think they’ll do it,” Aiken said.

Been also suggested that the township require Weaver to lessen the severity of the curve on Davidson Road on the south end of the plan for the safety of him and his neighbors and the new residents in the plan.

“It’s really tough in the wintertime coming down that hill,” Been said.

Tom Franceschina, vice chairman of the supervisors, reminded Been that no formal plans have been submitted by Weaver.

“Once they come back to the planning commission, we can voice that concern,” Franceschina said.

Been’s neighbor, Tom Volzer of Oak Lane, asked the supervisors if natural gas service could be extended to Oak Lane by Weaver if the development moves forward.

Franceschina said gas service also would be mentioned to the developer if a formal plan comes before the planning commission.
