Head-on crash this morning injures 1 on Rt. 228
SEVEN FIELDS — A woman suffered minor injuries this morning in a head-on collision on Route 228.
The crash was at 9:52 a.m. and involved a Toyota Sienna minivan and a Saab 9-3 car near the intersection with High Pointe Drive.
Firefighters with the Adams Area Fire District pried open the door of the minivan so that the driver, an unidentified woman, could get out. She was taken to a hospital by Cranberry EMS.
The driver of the car, a man, was not injured.
Witnesses reported seeing the car, which was driving east, cross over into oncoming traffic and hit the van, said officer Brian Mazzanti of the Evans City-Seven Fields Regional Police Department.
Police are investigating the cause of the crash, he said.
The airbags in both vehicles went off, and both were towed away with heavy front-end damage.
Traffic on the road was restricted for less an hour.
