Mildred I. Weidenhof

Mildred I. Weidenhof, 83, of Butler died Friday at the Evergreen Nursing Center in Harmony.

Mildred was born in Forward Township on Sept. 29, 1932, and was the daughter of Lester and Leah Burr Domhoff.

She was a life-long member of St. John Lutheran Church in Connoquenessing where she had organized and directed the church's junior choir and was a past member of the senior choir. She also was a past Sunday school superintendent and teacher for many years.

Mildred was a graduate of the Butler Beauty School and had owned and operated a salon in her home for 15 years. She also had worked at Griffin's Frozen Food Co. and Butler Stamping Co.

Mildred was a volunteer for the Red Cross, where she organized blood drives. She also had volunteered at United Cerebral Palsy, Easter Seal Society and the Special Olympics Bowling Program. In 1959, she was awarded the Brace for an Ace award for her work with the Crippled Children's Society. She also bowled in several ladies leagues in Butler.

Survivors include her children, Marilyn and Daniel Weidenhof and Doris Reinhart; her sisters, Mary Brewster, Betty Campbell, Bonnie Marburger, Carol Shearer and Edith Atkinson; her brothers, Donald and James Domhoff; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel C. Weidenhof, who died June 13, 1984, after 36 years of marriage; one daughter, Patti; and one brother, Lester.

WEIDENHOF — As per the wishes of Mildred I. Weidenhof, who died Friday, June 10, 2016, there was no public visitation.Graveside services were Wednesday at St. John's Lutheran Church Cemetery in Connoquenessing with the Rev. Gary Brown officiating.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. John's Lutheran Church Cemetery Association.Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Jay Bryan Funeral Home in Prospect.
