Butler PoliceThursday — Police charged Chad J. Moore, 41, of Renfrew with raging against a soda machine outside Friedman’s supermarket on West Brady Street last month.A call for a man “striking a (Coke) machine with a large metal bar” sent police to the store’s parking lot. An officer noticed the suspect standing near the machine.He told police that he was “only trying to get his money back,” documents said. The area around the machine’s dollar bill changer was damaged and a strip of plastic trim was pried off.The officer found nearby a section of a steel bed frame and a small metal trowel that police suspect Moore used to batter the machine, which had $96 in damage.The suspect was taken to the station and searched. Police said they found him with a heroin shooting kit that included two syringes.Moore is charged with possession of instruments of crime and drug paraphernalia and criminal mischief.1:30 p.m. Tuesday — Paula Ann Schwartz, 31, of Forward Township allegedly shoplifted $15 worth of children’s clothing at the Pullman Square Family Dollar store. Schwartz, who has four prior shoplifting convictions, is charged with a felony county of retail theft.

Grove City PoliceTuesday — A thief stole a money clip containing $30 in currency and a driver’s license from a Grove City College student’s room at College View Towers. The theft happened Monday or Tuesday. Anyone with any information is asked to call police at 724-458-7925.8:30 p.m. Saturday — A 17-year-old boy is suspected of using Facebook to send threatening messages to a girl. The boy, who police did not identify, faces a charge of harassment.

State Police, ButlerThursday — Police charged Ian G. Scott, 31, of Souderton, Montgomery County, with groping an Ohio woman last month at Copper’s Lake Campground on Currie Road in Worth Township.Scott allegedly grabbed the 25-year-old’s breast about 11 p.m. June 21. He is charged with indecent assault.Tuesday — Holly Ann Fedokovitz, 47, of Lyndora was arrested on charges she illegally tried to buy a gun last winter at a store in Clearview Mall in Center Township.Police said Fedokovitz lied about her criminal record on the application to buy the handgun Feb. 13 at Rural King.She was arraigned on a felony charge of unlawfully attempting to purchase a firearm and a misdemeanor charge of making a false statement to authorities. She is free on her own recognizance.

State Police, Mercer12:58 a.m. today — A Mercer County man was killed in a one-car crash in Delaware Township.Police said Gerald E. Murray, 40, of Mercer was westbound on Route 58 when he lost control of his 2002 Ford Mustang on a curve just west of St. Johns Road.The car slid off the road and hit a guardrail and mailboxes before rolling over and ending up against a group of trees.Police say Murray, who was not wearing a seat belt, was thrown from the vehicle. Mercer County Coroner John Libonati pronounced him dead at the scene.
