Butler PoliceFriday — Amy L. Allaman, 36, of Butler was charged with attempting to open several packages of merchandise last month at the Rite Aid store on South Main Street. Police said she fled the store but was identified.Allaman, who has three prior shoplifting arrests, was arraigned on a felony count of retail theft. She was released on her own recognizance following arraignment.July 5 — Police got an arrest warrant for Kevin M. Victor, 27, on a charge of simple assault in connection with a case of suspected domestic violence about 1:20 p.m. July 4 at his apartment on Greenview Drive.Victor is accused of slapping his girlfriend, Cortney McCarney, across her face with a notebook. McCarney suffered a red mark on her cheek, police said.
Butler County Drug Task ForceFriday — Narcotics officers charged Cearra D. Mackalika, 19, of Butler after she was caught last month with suspected marijuana and other contraband at an apartment in Lyndora.Butler County Probation officers on June 29 went to the Bessemer Avenue apartment for a routine home check, looking for 31-year-old Tywann R. Windham, who was home. Mackalika, who identified herself as Windham’s friend, let officers in.During the search, officers found a bag in the living room that contained a small amount of suspected marijuana wax, a scale and marijuana pipes. Mackalika claimed ownership of the items, documents said.She is charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
State Police, New Castle7:05 p.m. Sunday — One person was hurt in a one-vehicle wreck in Plain Grove Township. The crash happened when a minivan driven by Hortense Kasale, 33, of Erie drifted off the shoulder while northbound on Interstate 79.Kasale abruptly steered to the right but overcompensated, sending the van off the other side of the highway and rolling over one time.Kasale, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken to the Grove City Medical Center with a minor injury. The Slippery Rock Volunteer Fire Department and Slippery Rock Ambulance assisted police.12:30 p.m. Friday — Tamara S. Shepard, 58, of Volant was injured when she lost control of her motorcycle and crashed into an embankment on Old Ash Road just south of Black Road in Plain Grove Township.Shepard, who was wearing a helmet, was taken to the Grove City Medical Center with minor injuries. Police cited Shepard for driving at an unsafe speed.
