Butler noted as one of the best towns in PA to get away from it all
Butler is one of the top 10 towns in Pennsylvania to “get it away from it all” by a website recognizing communities across the United States.
The website onlyinyour town.com. lists Butler as number seven on the list of “Move To These 10 Towns in Pennsylvania If You Wanna Get Away From It All.”
The website cited Butler being named the seventh best town in Pennsylvania by Smithsonian Magazine in 2012.
Other Pennsylvania communities on the get-way-from-it list are Lititz in Lancaster County, Emmaus in Lehigh County, Greensburg in Westmoreland County, Broomall in Delaware County, Allison Park in Pittsburgh, Wyomissing in Berks County, Jenkintown in Montgomery County, Carlisle in Cumberland County and Tunkannock in Wyoming County.
Butler Mayor Tom Donaldson said he was glad the city is receiving recognition.
“It's exciting people notice Butler,” he said.
The website describes the list as beautiful small towns that give people a break from the hectic pace of urban life.
“It really is a break from the pace of urban life,” Donaldson said.
He said Butler is getting better, especially with business growth.
“We've made a lot of progress,” the mayor said.
