Butler Police4:28 p.m. Monday — Shawn D. Malone, 25, was arrested after allegedly assaulting his wife, Misty Malone, during a domestic dispute at their home on Carnegie Street. He is accused of grabbing her by the neck and pushing her onto a bed.Police said Malone is also accused of hitting his wife in the leg with a dresser drawer. His wife suffered a leg bruise.Malone was arraigned on a charge of simple assault, and placed in the Butler County Prison on $5,000 bail.Sunday — Michael E. Karch, 36, of Butler and Tiffany R. Mullen, 27, of Butler Township were both arrested on charges they stole several thousand dollars worth of property from a woman who befriended them in May.The alleged victim, Kristi Bezio, told police that on May 5 she ran into Mullen, an old friend, according to court documents. She learned that Mullen, who was with Karch, apparently needed a place to stay and allowed both of them to stay at her house on Brugh Avenue.But when Bezio woke up the next morning, the couple was gone. She also discovered she was missing numerous items, including a Sony PlayStation 3 video game console and six related video games, 40 Xbox video games, eight pairs of shoes, jewelry and other electronics.Police said the value of the property totaled $5,680.Police on May 6 spoke to Mullen, who denied taking the items. But several days later, documents said, police got a call from Mullen’s mother, who reported finding some of the stolen property in her vehicle, which her daughter had used.Karch and Mullen were both arraigned on felony charges of theft, conspiracy to commit theft, and receiving stolen property.Additionally, Karch faces other charges related to his arrest Sunday when he ran from officers who found him on Bredin Street. Police eventually caught him at West Penn Street and Miller Avenue. He is charged in that case with flight to avoid apprehension, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.Karch and Mullen are in the Butler County Prison on $25,000 bail and $5,000 bail, respectively.Sunday — Daniel D. Toner, 30, of Butler was arrested on charges he assaulted his girlfriend, Kaylynn Ford, during a domestic dispute Friday evening at their home on Taylor Street.Police on Saturday spoke to Ford at Butler Memorial Hospital where she had gone for treatment of injuries in the suspected assault. She told police that Toner shoved her onto a bed and punched her in the ribs after she suffered a “blackout,” according to court documents.An officer noted the victim had bruising under both arms and she complained of rib pain on her right side.Toner was arraigned on a charge of simple assault, and placed in the Butler County Prison on $5,000 bail.

Butler Twp PoliceWednesday — Nathan A. Cornell, 26, of Chicora was charged with returning $1,059 in stolen merchandise to the Moraine Pointe Plaza Lowes store for a fraudulent return. He is charged with theft by deception and receiving stolen property.Tuesday — Police charged Brandi T. Plaisted, 25, and a 17-year-old girl, both of Butler, in connection with a fraudulent return scheme last week at the Butler Commons’ Walmart.Plaisted and the teen, who police did not identify, are accused of returning about $77 in stolen merchandise for a store gift card about 6:15 p.m. June 28.Both suspects are charged with theft by deception and conspiracy. The girl also is charged with receiving stolen property. The teen faces her charges in juvenile court,Police also charged Plaisted in a separate fraudulent return case at the same Walmart. She allegedly returned stolen merchandise for a gift card. Police said she is charged with theft by deception in that case.9:46 a.m. Saturday — Bricker L. Dittmer, 19, of Fenelton drove away after he crashed his car into another vehicle on Route 422 at the Lyndora exit. The other driver, Adam Skorch, 35, of Saxonburg used his cell phone to snap a photo of Dittmer’s license plate, according to a police report.Dittmer is charged with hit-and-run, failing to stop and give information or render aid after an accident and reckless driving.8:33 a.m. Monday — Jared Lee Campbell, 33, of Butler was arrested after he allegedly assaulted his girlfriend during a domestic dispute in the 600 block of Bessemer Avenue. The woman suffered scratches and a bleeding wound on the hand.Campbell was arraigned on charges of simple assault and harassment, and was placed in the Butler County Prison on $5,000 bail.

State Police, ButlerSunday — A Butler couple was arrested on charges for allegedly using a woman’s credit card to make eight unauthorized purchases.Loren M. Lawrence, 26, and Mercedes R. Denny, 22, are accused of using the victim’s card between June 7 and 14, during which a combined $276.48 in illegal transactions were made at Walmart, Walgreens, Dairy Queen and Advance Auto Parts.Both defendants were arraigned on eight counts each of access device fraud, theft and receiving stolen property. Denny also is charged with forgery. They were placed in the Butler County Prison on $15,000 bail each following arraignment.

State Police, Clarion8:25 p.m. June 12 — Charles F. Plunkard, 36, of Emlenton was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on Main Street in Foxburg.
