Early morning truck crash injures passenger

LANCASTER TWP — A pickup truck was involved in a one-vehicle accident at 6 a.m. Saturday at mile marker 91 on Interstate 79.

The driver was heading north when he drove off the highway, and the truck hit an embankment and stopped on the grass median.

The front-seat passenger had a minor back injury.

State police and the Harmony Fire District responded. Brian Dambaugh, Harmony assistant fire chief, said fire officials believed the driver may have fallen asleep at the wheel, leading to the crash.

Dambaugh did not have the names of the driver or the two passengers, but said they were from South Carolina.

The truck did not need to be towed.
