Health clinic adds serviceThe Community Health Clinic has added a new service to meet a special need in Butler County: dental services to veterans who meet the clinic’s age and income guidelines.Originally dental services were provided only to clinic medical patients. However the clinic is providing them to veterans because the Veterans Affairs provides these services to a limited population of veterans, leaving the majority of VA patients without dental care.“We recognized this as an important health need in our community,” clinic chief operating officer Kim Reamer said.“Dental health is vitally important to medical health. We see this as an opportunity to fulfill our mandate to provide a safety net for our neighbors.”

City council to talk finances July 14Butler City Council will have a meeting to discuss the city’s financial situation at 6:30 p.m. July 14 at the city building.Council members made the decision Thursday night to meet July 14 after a presentation on Tuesday of an audit for 2015 from the Maher Duessel firm. It shows that the city started 2015 with $450,000 in reserve but ended $30,000 in the hole.The audit shows that the city increased its revenue by 1 percent last year but its expenditures increased by 4 percent.The special financial meeting was initially going to be in August but council decided Thursday to move it up before the next regular council meeting on July 26.
