Man allegedly had more than 200 images of child pornography
A 51-year-old man allegedly told state police he downloaded child pornography from the Internet “quite a few” times.
Although Scott E. Brown was arrested and charged Thursday, the allegations stem from 2013 and 2014 when the defendant lived alone in two adjoining apartments on Perry Highway in Lancaster Township.
According to court records, state police searched the computers inside Brown’s home in January 2014, after tracing some illegal pornography on the Internet to his computer’s address.
An affidavit of probable cause filed in the case alleges there were 51 videos and 166 still images depicting child pornography on one computer and another 22 videos on a USB drive.
Brown, who told investigators that he fixes other people’s computers as a hobby, acknowledged downloading the illegal material and stated, “I know it’s not right to do,” according to the affidavit.
Brown, who now lists and address in Ellwood City, is charged with criminal use of a communication facility, 50 counts of possessing child pornography, five counts of disseminating child pornography.
He was arraigned Thursday by District Judge Wayne Seibel in Evans City, and released on $10,000 unsecured bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 12.
