Toddler not seriously hurt in 2-story fall
A toddler tumbled out a second-story window at a Butler home Monday evening but apparently escaped serious injury, authorities said.
The 18-month-old boy was conscious and alert and the only visible injury was a small bruise on his upper back, emergency crews said.
“Obviously, he’s pretty lucky, since he fell 12 feet,” Butler Fire Department Capt. Kevin McAfee said of the infant. “But kids are pretty resilient as we all know.”
Authorities did not identify the boy who was taken by ambulance to Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh. His condition was not known this morning.
Butler police are investigating but a report was not immediately available.
It was not known who was attending to the infant when he fell from an upstairs window at the home in the 400 block of South Monroe Street.
The child’s mother was holding him when Butler Fire Department and Butler Ambulance Service medical crews arrived about 5:30 p.m.
“He never lost consciousness,” McAfee said of the boy. “He was alert but severely agitated.”
Rescuers immobilized the toddler on a back board before he was taken to the hospital.
