Police seek chase suspect
State police are looking for a Butler man who eluded troopers after a short vehicle chase early Sunday morning.
Clecy E. Thompson, 26, is being sought on a list of charges in connection with a traffic stop in Butler that turned into a vehicle and foot chase.
Troopers initially tried to pull over Thompson's black Jeep Compass but he refused to stop, according to police. He continued driving for a short distance before stopping at Wallula and West Boyd avenues.
He jumped out of the Jeep and ran off, police said. Troopers along with city police searched for the suspect but could not find him.
Butler police said they also went to Thompson's last known address, a home in the 400 block of Zeigler Avenue, but he was not there.
State police said they plan to obtain an arrest warrant for the suspect, who faces a list of charges including fleeing or attempting to elude police, resisting arrest, flight to avoid apprehension and several traffic violations.
Police said Thompson is also wanted on a bench warrant for failing to appear at a court hearing in connection with a 2015 simple assault case. The warrant was issued April 4.
Court records showed that a second bench warrant was issued that same day for the suspect after he failed to appear for a probation violation hearing in a 2014 misdemeanor drug case.
Anyone with information about Thompson's whereabouts is asked to call police at 724-284-8100.
